To My Little Girl

Dear Little One,

Mommy's still trying to process that we know you're a girl. You have a name. (a secret name, but a name none the less)

Daddy and I went to Omaha this past weekend to see Aunt Liz and get you some cute clothes. You, sweetheart, will be a very well dressed little girl. One of these days I'm going to get all your clothes washed and put in drawers.. no hurry since you still are 15-ish weeks away. Plenty of time!

Daddy had so much fun finding cute little outfits for you, princess. He's going to spoil you like crazy. I can just tell you're going to be a daddy's girl. Just leave some love for mom, please!

12 Hours

Hokey Petes Little One!

We get to see you in just 12 short long hours! I know you're excited too. You've been moving like CRAZY today!

I can't even BEGIN to describe how excited Daddy and I are to see you again. It's been entirely too long. Daddy would sure like it if you gave him a few kicks tonight though. Lately you've been being a little turkey and holding completely still for him and then kick kick kicking like mad the second he takes his hand away.

More tomorrow. LOVE YOU!!

Only 3 Days Away...

Dearest Little One,

Oh. my. goodness. We're only three days away from your anatomy scan/gender ultrasound!! I am so anxious for Wednesday to finally get here! In preparation for the big announcement, I've been gathering guesses family members have on whether you're a boy or a girl. Here's some:

Daddy:                Boy
Mommy:            Boy
Papa Vermeer:  Girl
Gma Vermeer:  Boy
Auntie Shell:      Girl
Kyli:                    Girl so you'll be her sister :)
Auntie Liz:         Boy
Auntie Sarah:    Boy
Uncle Dan:         Boy
Uncle Mattie:    Boy
Papa VR:           Boy
Papa Dean:        Girl
Gma Reckner:  Girl

I can't wait to see you again. Last time I saw you was 12 weeks ago. At that time you just had little chicken legs and were so tiny and scrawny. I'm sure you've grown so much! Please though sweetie, please cooperate and show whatever part of your body the ultrasound tech wants to look at... especially when it comes time to check if you're a boy or girl!! I love you bunches!

Week 23

Loved Little One,

I can't even begin to describe to you how loved you already are. Those kicks you're giving me right now are one of the most treasured things in my life. Not a day goes by that me and your daddy don't discuss what you'll look like, what you'll sound like, or what little quirks you'll have.

Little one when I discovered I was pregnant with you there was a huge flood of emotions. Obvioulsy there was excitement. I instantly ran to find your daddy to share the wonderful news of you! He was over the moon excited. Following the wave of excitement came my fear. Fear of wether or not I'd be a good mom. Fear of if we could still make ends meet while adding another little life to our family. Daddy calmed me down really quick. He says he's confident I'll be a great mom and that we will be just fine financially. Daddy's really smart so I had no choice but to agree with him!

Your daddy is an amazing and loving man. He was so good to me when you were just starting out. I had a solid month of morning sickness. Daddy spoiled me like crazy... He let me sleep in, made me breakfast every morning, made whatever meals sounded good to me and just made me feel loved even when I felt miserable. I can only imagine how wonderful he'll be with you.

Daddy is the strange voice who talks to you every morning when we get up and every night before bed. He loves it when you kick his hand when he talks. Especially since you sometimes have this trick where you hold super still if Daddy puts his hand on my tummy. Daddy prefers you kicking him rather than playing tricks on him.

The first time I went to the doctor because of you (at 8 weeks) I had a mixture of excitement and fear. I was excited to possibly get a chance to see you but scared that something might be wrong. The doctor surprised your daddy and I with a sneak peek of you. You were so little; about the size of a gummy bear. Your father and I started referring to you as our little gummy bear. :) We got a few pictures of you. I currently have them framed on my desk at work in a frame that says "Love at first sight". You're so loved little one.

After this appointment we started setting up your Noah's Ark themed nursery. Daddy really loves the lions in your room so be sure to play with all the lion stuff as much as possible, please. Some of the stuff in your room was new but your cousin Kyli had to play with them first. She justified it by saying, "But baby's not here yet. And I am."

We also took some cute pictures to use when we announced that we were expecting you..

At 12 weeks we went back to the doctor for another check up. You were being quite the little stinker. You wouldn't hold still so the doctor could find your heartbeat. We ended up getting another sneak peek at you. You had grown so much in those 4 weeks. You were waving and kicking like crazy! Daddy and I were pretty excited we got a 2nd sneek peek at you. We decided then and there that you were going to be adorable.

Next Wednesday, Daddy and I get to see you again! We have the anatomy scan scheduled before the 24 week checkup. We're hopeful that you will use that opportunity to show us your 'goods'. This is the one and only time we ever want you to expose yourself. Got that little one? This is a one time deal! We can't wait to find out if you're a boy or a girl. Obviously we will love you regardless we just want to know what to prepare for. Will you need cute frilly dresses or camo print pants? Will you need hair bows or little ties? We have so many questions about what you will be like. (I'm thrilled to be able to start shopping for you!)

Next week Friday we're going to Omaha to start buying some gender specific clothes for you and to visit Aunt Liz. You're going to be spoiled. Better get used to being spoiled kiddo. There's a lot of people who love you already.

More soon. Love you little one!
